Abstract

  1. "1. An apparatus for recording visual and auditory reaction times is described. 2. The reaction times of 178 male Ss varying in age from 17 to 53 years are recorded under different conditions. 3. The influence of certain variables on these reaction times is considered statistically. 4. Reaction times to light and sound are only partially dependent. 5. The reaction time to sound tends to increase with age, and with proximity to a meal, but is unaffected by practice or fatigue. 6. The reaction time to light improves slightly with practice, and is unaffected by ordinary degrees of fatigue, proximity to a meal or by age."
