Abstract

Describes the construction of the Children's Interpersonal Trust Scale, a 22-item multiple-choice scale using cartoons. Preliminary validity was determined by using a delayed-choice paradigm as a criterion measure. 45 male and 32 female 6th graders from 2 rural and 2 small city schools completed the trust scale and 1 wk later the delayed choice task. The corrected split-half reliability of the scale was .88. The mean trust score of Ss choosing the delayed reward was higher than that of Ss choosing immediate reward (p < .05). No sex differences were found on the trust scale or criterion task. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
