Abstract

This section delineates the variety of roles and responsibilities that psychologists have in hospital settings. What is presented here is a general picture, since laws and regulations vary from state to state. Most, perhaps all, of the items listed here are functions currently being performed by psychologists with appropriate training and experience in hospitals. Topics discussed include the following: administrative privileges, scientific activities, clinical attending privileges, clinical assessment privileges, and clinical treatment privileges.
