Abstract

Discusses the impact of suggestibility on American mental epidemics. The chapter examines American social life, which is so radically different from that of the middle ages, yet we still find the same phenomena manifesting themselves. It is noted that the social spirit runs riot in mobs, crazes, manias, pests, plagues, and epidemics. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
