Abstract

Kindergarten, second and fourth graders, and college students were given haptic matching problems with two comparison stimuli. Matching accuracy, exploration time, and the use of efficient scanning strategies increased between kindergarten and second grade and to a lesser degree between fourth grade and college. The changes in exploration accounted for most of the improvement in performance. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
