Abstract

The optic lobes of frogs, fishes, and birds are structurally homologus with the corpora quadrigemina of mammals. This chapter first considers the optic lobes, their relations to the eyes, the optic chiasma, equilibration, locomotor coordination, and emotional expression. He then discusses the effects of irritation of the corpora quadrigemina, electrical irritation of the corporal quadrigeminia, and the phenomena of irritation.
