Abstract

There is so much confusion in the minds of many grown-ups regarding the matter of discipline that further consideration of it and some reiteration of what has gone before seems pertinent. We have become aware, in these years of study of the preschool child, of the negative results of too much repression. We have learned so well how much depends on attitudes established in the preschool years, that sometimes we bend over backwards in our ideas of what constitutes freedom. We do not want an overrepressed child, nor a child whose will is broken. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
